Hannah Borg Director & Founder
After her own experience of bullying in 6th form, Hannah became aware of the need for a service dedicated to supporting and encouraging girls.
Ideas for a self-esteem course for girls were put on hold while Hannah studied for a degree in Youth, Children's and Community Work in Nottingham. However, within the first year, she had realised that something needed to be done now.
'I've always felt strongly about the need for girls to be understood and being a part of their journey to become strong, confident, young women.'
Hannah wrote the Cherished programme while she continued her degree and began delivering the course in secondary schools, to an overwhelmingly positive reception.
Cherished continues to flourish under Hannah's leadership and inspirational determination to bring out the true potential and value of girls.
'My heart's desire is that Cherished allows girls to live their lives knowing that they were made with purpose and reason; they were created to be cherished and adored.'
Milly Bolton Director
Milly and Hannah were childhood friends, who shared the same love of working with young people. Milly spent time working in schools before a conversation revealed that both had a deeply rooted passion for nurturing girls' self-esteem.
'I struggled with poor self-image as a teenger. I never felt pretty enough. It inspired me to work with girls and teach them that they are perfect just the way they are.'
In 2013, Milly joined Cherished as a director. She got stuck in straight away, adding her unique sparkle to all things Cherished.
Much to the excitement of our girls, Milly brings her beautiful singing into many mentoring and Blossom sessions, encouraging the girls to express themselves in musical form.
'Girls should be striving to be beautiful in their own, special way, using their talents and being themselves.'
